If you got a juicer, or you're using one because you want to eat healthier in the new year, you probably have a lot of leftover pulp and leavings from the fruits and veggies you've been juicing. This video from CHOW shows you how to use those leftovers, instead of tossing them in the trash or compost heap.
The first—and perhaps most useful—trick is to repurpose the pulp for a vegetable broth. Just toss in one part pulp with two parts water, dried herbs, and maybe a few other veggies you may have lying around like some onions, and boil in a large pot. Simmer for 30-45 minutes and then strain through a cheesecloth—you have a super-fast vegetable broth that takes little to no time to make, and won't require you to buy and chop up a bunch of fresh vegetables to make your own. You can play around with the ratios and the vegetables to get the flavors you're looking for.
The video also shows you a recipe for turning that pulp into edible, smooth veggie crackers by buzzing them up your food processor and then baking them in a cookie sheet. All in all, both methods are great ways to make good use of something that would otherwise be trash. Hit the video above (or the link below) for more.
