University City District's 40th Street Summer Series Continues This Saturday, August 30 With Nation Beat And The Highwater Preachers

This Saturday night, the popular 40th Street Summer Series returns to the lawn of the Walnut Street West Library at 40th and Walnut streets.
On the west side of the Schuylkill River, University City District ups the cool factor to combat the summer heat with the 40th Street Summer Series, a free outdoor concerts on the last Saturdays of August and September.
After a two great concerts earlier this summer, the monthly series continues this Saturday, August 30 with a mixed bill of artists sure to appeal to tons of different types of music lovers.
On deck for Saturday, Nation Beat mixes up Brazilian drumming and New Orleans beats to perform an energetic live show. Don't be surprised if the drummers take to the crowds to egg on dancing.
Plus, The Highwater Preachers tune up to play modern takes on bluegrass classics with fiddling, picking and vocal harmonies.
The free show also includes festive activities and entertainment for both kids and adults like fire artists, face painting, jugglers, balloon art and more.
Plus, be on the look out for complimentary (first come, first served) Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and pretzels to be handed out during the performance.
All concerts take place on the green behind the Walnut Street Free Library at 40th and Walnut streets, begin at 6 p.m. and are totally free.
