When you’re talking about ramen, the stuff in the packet has its place, but it’s nothing compared to the real deal—and this graphic shows you how to make the real stuff at home, complete with the ingredients you’ll need and 25 different regional varieties you can try.
The full graphic is a Kickstarter success story that’s available as a full 16”x20” print ($30) that you can order directly from the creator (at the link below.) Each form of ramen is shown top down so you can see what the finished product generally looks like, complete with the ingredients that make it so special. It’s pretty enough to be art, but instructive enough to help you get in the kitchen and make something new.
For example, Yamagata cold Ramen is generally served with a beef-based broth with roast pork, cucumbers, bamboo shoots, scallions, and ice cubes to keep everything nice and cold—perfect for a super hot day. Meanwhile Tantanmen brings the heat with a chicken-based broth, spiced ground pork, chili oil, Chinese hot bean sauce, Chinese sesame paste, and more, all in one tasty (but spicy) bowl.
Granted, the graphic doesn’t show you specific measurements or how to make the noodles or prep the broth, but we have you covered on that front as well. Hit the magnifying glass to enlarge the image below, or the link below to grab your copy of the print.
