Nusiki Is a Social Stream of Nothing But Great Music

Nusiki Is a Social Stream of Nothing But Great Music

Web/Android/iOS: New music is easy to find, but if you want to hear what people think is good, you’ll need to go somewhere they actually choose and post songs they want other people to listen to. Nusiki is a service designed just for that—for you to share the songs you love, and discover other great tracks too.

Nusiki is a bit like “Twitter for Music,” in a way. Once you sign in, you’re automatically given a few users to follow to get you started, and you can immediately start posting songs you like to get things going. Other members can follow you back, like your tracks, leave a comment, or re-post your song to their profile. The service supports YouTube and Soundcloud, and lets you play your feed either in chronological order or in “shuffle mode,” so you never know what you’re going to hear next. When you’re tired of your music feed, just click “explore” to discover music from people you don’t follow, and if you like what someone’s posting, you can check out their profile to see more and decide if you want to follow them. Similarly, you can make playlists of songs you enjoy, or just by genre, and come back to those tracks when you’re ready.

The service is brand new, but a lot of refugees from the soon-to-be-shuttered This Is My Jam have mentioned they’re heading there for the same feeling of community they previously enjoyed. It helps that Nusiki even has a feature that connects to your TIMJ profile, imports all of your (YouTube and Soundcloud) tracks, and even shows you which of your TIMJ friends and follows are there, so you can follow them again. Unlike TIMJ, however, which encouraged you to only post one song at a time and make it “your jam” for a while, Nusiki lets you post as many as you like, and build a stream of music that updates as often or as rarely as you choose.

Nusiki also has iOS and Android apps to help you take your favorite tracks—and the community—on the go with you, so you’re never without the music you love. Like we mentioned, the service is new and a little rough around the edges, but it’s definitely worth a look, especially if you love finding and falling in love with new music.
